If you’ve never heard of bovine colostrum, then you came to the right place. We created this site after we learned of Colostrum and saw that there was no quality informational website on it. So here we are!
This page is simply an introduction to colostrum. We have several pages of information on this site, and if any part intrigues you, we link you to the more detailed page.
As an introduction to ourselves, we are Lauren and Matt. I am a nutritionist, he is a web designer. I am a semi-competitive triathlete, he is a weightlifter. Our child, little Matty Jr, is a ball of energy and love.
But even with our backgrounds, it took us over 35 years to find out about Bovine Colostrum! We had been missing out and we don’t want you to miss out anymore either.
The Two Reasons Why We Don’t Get Sick:
- I eat lots of nutrient-dense vegetables (Matt’s coming along in this category..). I’m not talking about grains like corn or wheat. I’m talking about colorful, leafy vegetables like spinach and arugula, peppers, broccoli, carrots, onions, tomatoes, squash, and so on.
- We take 3-6g of bovine colostrum powder each and every day – usually we mix it with our whey protein powder.
Honestly. Even with Matty’s classmates’ bugs coming in and out of the house, we simply don’t get sick anymore… But nearly every time I stop EITHER of the above two items, such as when I’m traveling, I start to feel human again, and I don’t like it. It happens like clockwork. Colostrum, along with a healthy diet, makes us feel like gold. It’s to the point now where we bring colostrum on trips.
Enough About Us… So What Is Bovine Colostrum?
This product has actually been used for centuries in parts of South America, and is just now making its way north into the USA, and also across the pond to Europe. In fact, millions of people across the country and around the world are catching on to all of the health benefits that colostrum can provide, so let’s take a look at the benefits of bovine colostrum next.
Bovine Colostrum Benefits
We’re not kidding when we say that colostrum can help improve almost every single area of your entire body! Here are just a few points about how you could benefit from taking colostrum supplements:
- Overall Immune System Support – Prevents The Flu BETTER THAN THE FLU SHOT!
That’s right! A study showed that “Colostrum, both in healthy subjects and high-risk cardiovascular patients, is at least 3 times more effective than vaccination to prevent flu and is very cost-effective.”
So forget injecting yourself with some foreign virus when you can supplement yourself with truly natural immune support!
We link you to this study later on in our Colostrum Benefits page.
- Anti-Inflammatory Properties
Colostrum can help reduce inflammation that causes pain, including arthritis, colitis, and other types of painful conditions. Say goodbye to pain that’s caused by swelling and inflammation after a good month of colostrum!
- Relief from Allergies
When it comes down to it, allergies are caused by the production of Immunoglobin E (IgE) in your body, as part of a response to foreign proteins entering the body. Colostrum helps to desensitize the body to these allergens by suppressing the production of IgE, making your allergic reactions less frequent and severe.
- Better, Healthier Skin
High concentrations of anti-oxidants, which helps to improve your skin’s health and make you look younger. There are even Colostrum Cream products that get incredible reviews and can be used directly on your skin!
- Lean Muscle Mass and Better Athletic Performance
This is the one that Matt loves!! Even athletes will benefit from bovine colostrum. In fact, it’s been popular in the athletic world for quite awhile now, since it’s been shown to increase one’s lean body mass, without the harmful side effects that are found in unnatural supplements, growth hormone boosters, or steroids.
In addition, it helps keep the athlete healthy by speeding up the healing process for injuries caused by athletic activity. It also boosts the immune system, which usually becomes lessened after periods of extreme activity.
- Help for Alzheimer’s Disease and other cognitive disorders
In a clinical trial performed recently in 2007, 15 Alzheimer’s patients were given colostrum, and out of those 15, eight of them showed improvement that is statistically significant. The rest of that group stabilized. The group which was given a placebo did not improve at all. A substance known as phosphatidylserine has been shown to help when patients suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or senile dementia.
- Arthritis Relief
As mentioned above, arthritis can be helped in a great way by bovine colostrum supplements. Certain types of arthritis have been associated with an increased intestinal permeability, which colostrum has been proven to heal.
- Asthma Relief
Colostrum supplements can help lessen the severity of asthma, thanks to the suppressing of the allergic response that brings on asthma attacks.
- Preventing Cancer
Last but certainly not least, colostrum has been shown to help prevent or shrink cancerous masses in the body. The milk fats that are found in this substance have also been shown to be anticarcinogenic.
With all of these outstanding health benefits and even more, it’s easy to see why people are jumping all over bovine colostrum!

What Forms Does Colostrum Come In?
Bovine Colostrum PowderWe like bovine colostrum powder. With this, you may actually find it easier and much more inexpensive to work with than a pill. When you choose the powder, you’re able to measure out the exact amount that you want. This means that you can add more or less to your drink, depending on how much you want. The powder form is also more common than the pill form, and there are more brands to choose from since it’s easier to manufacture.

Bovine Colostrum Capsules
However, colostrum capsules have their benefits too. You may find the pill form of bovine colostrum to be more convenient than its powder counterpart. Since you can keep a bottle of the pills in your pocket or purse, so you don’t have to worry about a mess being made.
Not only that, but most people are used to taking pills for vitamins, medications, and so on, so all you have to do is pop the pill in your mouth, swallow it, and be on your way. You won’t have to worry about making any messy drink mixes, as you would with the powder form. The only drawback of the pill is that it’s somewhat less common than the powder form of colostrum, so you won’t find it in many stores. It’s also more expensive, which is really why we use powders. Online retailers usually have a good selection of colostrum in pill form, though.

Where to Buy Bovine Colostrum Supplements
Sadly, colostrum is still not as popular as we’d like it to be, for some reason. Some specialty stores have it, but most don’t.
Because of that, the Internet is by far the best place to get it. There are more products, they’re cheaper, you oftentimes don’t have to pay sales tax, and there’s free shipping.
